It's the climb that really matters
I was sitting in the car and  distributing magazines with my daughter when a song by Miley Cyrus was played on B98.7.  My nine year old daughter turned the volume up, excited that they were playing her music on my radio station.  As I listened to the words, I realized how powerful this song was for me and many other single moms ~ especially for my daughter.

The Climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down

WHAT A POWERFUL SONG!! yeah and from Miley Cyrus... who knew! 
As I sat listening and crying in my car listen to this beautiful song, I realized it is THE CLIMB which makes us who we are and not the end result.
Sometimes the climb feels just to steep, to many rocks to maneuver around, and your energy exhausted but this is when we realize our STRENGTH!
WE REALIZE OUR CAPACITY TO BECOME SMARTER, STRONGER, POWERFUL AND "THE BEST THAT WE CAN BE".... THIS IS WHERE WE GAIN OUR INDEPENDENCE.... INSIDE, AN INDEPENDENCE OF THE SPIRIT!

On these days of independence may you reflect on your growth from your climb and embrace the wonderful person you have become because of it!

Diary of a Single Mom
I had a great conversation with a single mom who has a wealth of experience and information for single moms.  She is earning her second master's degree and has worked very hard to achieve so many accomplishments in the years of being a single mom of two children.  She told me something so important that it is a message for all single moms -  on her path to become self reliant and achieve her goals, she came to know herself.  She came to the understanding of knowing that she is a strong, intelligent, resourceful, caring and compassionate woman.  A woman who can achieve anything she decides to do.  The confidence in knowing this, really knowing this, is a peace that I too have come to understand in my own life.  To know in your heart, soul and mind that you are worthy of greatness is my hope for all single moms.  You are worth so much more than you know.
